Sandra’s experience: “The best decision—why didn’t I do it before!”
Client stories 05.12.2025
“I know, sounds like that classic phrase everyone says after laser surgery… but, well, clichés become clichés for a reason.“
What kind of work do you do? What are your hobbies?
I work in the commercial real estate sector. In my free time, I enjoy various sports, such as swimming, and going to the sauna. All of this requires being able to see clearly without glasses.
Why did you decide to have laser surgery? What bothered you the most about glasses/contact lenses?
The decision was quite incidental. While on a work assignment, I met with a representative from the manufacturer during the installation of equipment at the Silmalaser Stockmann Clinic and asked them about the technology they use. This conversation reassured me that this was a high-class solution.
The thing that bothered me the most about glasses was that they quickly fogged up when I went outdoors and indoors or when it rained. With contact lenses, the problem was dry eyes after a long day of work.
“The thing I was most worried about was the long recovery time. I knew that in some other clinics it could take several weeks.”
How long did you consider laser surgery and what struck you most about the process?
About five years. In the meantime, I was pregnant and breastfeeding, so the decision was postponed. What stood out most was the professionalism of the doctor and their calm, reassuring attitude.
What was your biggest fear before the surgery? What would you recommend for those who have a similar fear?
The thing I was most worried about was the long recovery time. I knew that in some other clinics it could take several weeks. In reality, it was quick and painless.

What I recommend to anyone with a similar fear: just take this step. The sooner you do it, the longer you can enjoy clear vision. I was already in a meeting the next morning!
How did you feel after the surgery, when your vision had recovered and you could see the world around you without glasses? Did anything exciting or unexpected happen?
Even though I was used to wearing contact lenses and my minus was only -1, a life without glasses is still a huge improvement. It was really the best decision. In hindsight, I could have done it even sooner.
What has been the biggest change in your life thanks to the surgery?
Saved time and peace of mind. In the morning, I no longer have to think about whether to bring glasses or contact lenses. Travelling and playing sports are also much easier!
What would you recommend for those considering the surgery?
Do it! You’ll be able to enjoy more years of travel, sports, spas and everyday life without glasses or contact lenses.
