What kind of work do you do? What are your hobbies?
I work as a sales assistant at a great bakery and pastry company in Rakvere. In addition to monitoring the sales process, I manage our company’s social media accounts and e-shop. My passion for food is also reflected at home. On the morning of my day off, I’m already starting to plan what to bake for the day:) I am also fascinated by food photography. I’m trying to gain knowledge here and there and also try to take photos of the products. Amidst all this food, I enjoy staying active and living a healthy lifestyle.
Why did you decide to have laser surgery?
As my eyesight had become quite poor over the years, it started to interfere with daily activities. I couldn’t do anything without my glasses. And lately, when I felt that my vision was getting blurry again, I knew it was time for the laser procedure. I had already looked into the possibilities of this procedure years earlier, but at the time I didn’t go through with it because I was afraid. I’ve had to wear glasses since I was in primary school, so financially it’s been quite an expense.
Why did you opt for Silmalaser?
It was important to me that I receive a top-quality laser treatment and feel well taken care of throughout the process. I decided to go in for a pre-operative examination and then make a decision at my own pace. I have to admit that I had such a pleasant and supportive experience at the Silmalaser pre-operative examination that when I walked out of the door after the exam, I was 100% sure that I was going to have the procedure. It was as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Deelia for her masterful work!
What was your biggest fear before the laser procedure? What would you recommend for those with a similar fear?
I think my biggest fear was related to the healing process. How long it lasts and whether it’s painful. And, of course, there was the worry that my eyesight might get worse in a few years. Fears are a natural part of life, but if you want to free yourself from blurred vision, you must act. By working with the clinic, you can truly get answers to all your questions, and they will alleviate any fears you may have.
How did you feel after the procedure, when your vision had recovered and you could see the world around you without glasses?
What surprised me the most after the laser procedure was the immediate visual acuity. I was not used to seeing clearly in the morning without my glasses. When you’ve been wearing glasses for a long time, it feels like nothing short of a miracle when one day the world suddenly becomes clear. To this day, gratitude and joy still fill my heart! In the beginning, there are always a lot of unusual moments and great rediscoveries. For some time, you still reach for your glasses on the nightstand first thing in the morning. When you start to do your make-up, you try to take your glasses off. And the feeling when rain now starts dripping onto your eyes instead of your glasses!
What has been the biggest change in your life thanks to the procedure?
Thanks to the laser procedure, I realised how easy it is to get used to having less in life. I was used to blurry and unclear vision. But that doesn’t have to be the case! I am worthy of a full life. I have my eyesight back, which I am so happy about. And I encourage others to live life to the fullest!
What do you recommend for those who are thinking about having the procedure?
The way life is, you might end up waiting for motivation and the right moment forever. You need to act! Now, today! I know that there are many young people who want to find answers to the questions that are going around in their heads before they have laser surgery. I would definitely recommend going for a pre-operative examination.
