Mari: “Just do it!”

We’re delighted to share one lucky lottery winner Mari’s impressions of her Femto laser eye laser surgery. Read more about Mari’s experience and why she decided to have the laser procedure.

What kind of work do you do? What are your hobbies?

I’m a lawyer at Sunly, a renewable energy company. My hobbies include tennis and boxing, and I also enjoy reading fiction in my spare time.

Why did you decide to have laser surgery?

First and foremost for convenience. I didn’t like wearing glasses and I had already damaged my eyes from wearing contact lenses for so long.

How was your experience at Silmalaser (pre-operative examination, surgery, post-operative period)?

Everything was very professional, I am very satisfied.

What were you most afraid of before the laser procedure and what do you recommend for those who have similar fears?

I wasn’t really scared, I was looking forward to it. There was no pain, more like a momentary discomfort that passes quickly.

How did you feel after the procedure, when your vision had recovered and you could see the world around you without glasses?

As my eyesight was quite bad, I had to wear glasses every day anyway. This means that in terms of day-to-day activities, I saw/see everything the same way and the difference is not so noticeable. The main difference is convenience, i.e. I don’t have to look for glasses first thing in the morning and put in contact lenses for training.

What has been the biggest change in your life thanks to the procedure?

The fact that I didn’t have to wear glasses. For me, this was really uncomfortable and unpleasant.

How was the recovery process?

The recovery was quick. The day of the surgery was the most uncomfortable, but from then on, my eyes were just dry for a few days. I have now fully recovered.

What do you recommend for those who are thinking about having the procedure?

Just do it!
