My education began at Tallinn School No. 21 and continued at the University of Tartu. My desire to study medicine was influenced by my doctor parents, and certainly also by the fact that several good friends from my high school graduating class went on to study in the same field. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu in 1988. The medical bug seems to run in the family, as both my children are now also finishing their medical studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I gained my professional expertise at the Eye Clinic of Tallinn Central Hospital, the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, the Moorfields and Hammersmith eye hospitals in London, England, and the Helsinki University Hospital in Finland. I have taken part in numerous international seminars in Finland, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, the UK, Germany, the US, Japan and elsewhere, and have also participated in several international clinical trials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I gained my first professional experience in the field at Magdaleena Hospital in Tallinn, then continued at the Tallinn Eye Clinic. Since 1998, I have been working at my own private practice. The eye clinic originally established at Magdaleena Hospital, which actively focused on the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and its effects on the eyes, also grew into a separate eye centre. Driven by a desire to practise refractive surgery and build a professional team of ophthalmologists, I founded Silmalaser Clinic, which remains one of my greatest passions to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
