Appointments for young people aged 13–21

Silmalaser is now offering a new vision screening service for young people (13–21 years old) at a special price, including a prescription for glasses if needed. During the examination, optometrists check eye health and visual acuity.

Why is it important for young people to have their eyes checked?

Detecting problems early. As an adult, your eye health is already well established, but when you’re young, your eyes undergo significant changes. Some vision problems, such as myopia, often develop in the teenage years. The earlier these are detected, the more successfully can their progression be slowed.

Learning and concentration. Did you know that vision problems can affect academic, reading, and even sports performance? Poor eyesight can make schoolwork, hobbies and screen time uncomfortable, causing eye fatigue, headaches and difficulty concentrating. Often, the young person may not even realise that their vision has deteriorated and think what they’re experiencing is normal.

The impact of smart devices on your eyes. Nowadays, our lives are inextricably linked to smart devices and screens. Every day, hours are spent on the phone, tablet or computer, which puts a lot of strain on the eyes. Screens can contribute to the development of vision problems and aggravate existing ones.
